Project: PorterShed a Dó
Client: GCID
Contractor: MJ Conroy Construction
Design Team: Cronin Architects

PorterShed a Dó is located in the Galway City Innovation District. It is part of the Irish Tech-Hub Network.
MJ Conroy Construction was immensely proud to continue their long collaborative working relationship with PorterShed and the design team, to once again work on the re-purposing and adaptive re-use of an old building in the heart of Galway City. The resulting PorterShed a Dó at Market Street is the largest building in the complex.
The regeneration of the well-known landmark Connacht Tribune building has added to the re-energisation of this area of the city centre, cementing PorterShed’s success in Galway and the western region. The imagination and courage of the client to have the foresight to undertake this project is most commendable.
With high-end facilities and work space for 200 people to use, the latest addition to the PorterShed complex comprising both private office space and open plan hot-desking areas, and with a multi-level layout, PorterShed a Dó is well-equipped to accommodate a large number of companies.
This project presented many logistical challenges but successful stakeholder collaboration and pre-planning were vital to the overall ultimate success of the project. The result has been an added vibrancy in this part of Galway city by way of commerce, trade and entertainment spin-offs, which is something that MJ Conroy Construction are pleased to have been part of.
